The GIS Club seeks to expand upon our knowledge of GIS, GIS software, GIS Science, and any other GIS-related themes to help members build a portfolio of skills and projects that will assist them in gaining desired employment.

GIS stands for Geographic Information Systems, and this is the common usage. GIS can also stand for Geographic Information Science, though GIScience or GIS Science is more descriptive. GIScience deals with the science and techniques that underlie the Geographic Information Systems. Without GIScience, GIS couldn’t exist.

GIS allows for the modeling of our world; the creation of visual representations for data analysis. Through GIS we can explore data, and find relationships or outliers in data that would be difficult to find without a visual representation.
